Why it took Kansas City five centuries to organize a Squash tournament is beyond me. But, with the weather driving athletes of all sports indoors, perhaps its time to pick up a racquet of a different kind and try your athleticism in the first ever annual Kansas City Squash Shoot-Out.
As an established pillar of the international court sport community, the Athletic Club of Overland Park takes great pride in playing host to what could surely take hold as a prestigious event and assimilate itself into the wide array of epic court sport tournaments already ingrained into the clubs foundation.
For local competitors, the shoot-out will commence the evening of Friday, December 12th, with full tournament play stretching the length of the weekend, concluding finals and monetary awards Sunday afternoon. Each match will consist of three games, up until the start of semi-final play, only to progress each match into a five game series throughout the culmination of the tournament.
Price of entry for all nonmembers of the Athletic Club is $40, while members enjoy a $5 discount for registration prior to December 8th. All competitors, member or not, will be subject to a $10 late fee if registration is not completed before the deadline. Your entry fee covers your Kansas City Squash Shoot-Out commemorative tee and allows for a complimentary lunch on Saturday. For out of town contenders, you will also receive a discounted rate at our partner & host hotel, Comfort Inn & Suites, located just down the road from our facilities.
Any inquiries regarding registration will be directed towards our tournament coordinator, Mike Wedel. All queries can be resolved by contacting the Athletic Club at 913-383-9060 or submitted directly to Mike at [email protected] The tournament coordinators reserve the right to limit draw, designate scoring systems, combine divisions, reclassify players and forfeit your match if you are unable to play at your scheduled time.
So if you are a court sport enthusiast or maybe just someone convinced of their own athleticism, make sure to come out and be a part of the inaugural Kansas City Squash Shoot-Out and put your skills, whatever they may be, to the test and enjoy a great atmosphere while keeping the health of competition alive and well.
