Benefits of Kansas City Swimming

Kansas City swimming yields many different benefits. The Athletic Club of Overland Park offers a  heated, 25-meter, 4-lane swimming pool. The hut tub and pool create an outdoor oasis for sunbathers and swimmers alike. During the colder months, the pool is covered by a state-of-the-art climate-controlled dome. This allows our swimmers to enjoy the pool year-round!

One of the benefits of Kansas City swimming is you get constant cardio. Swimming requires you to be constantly moving to keep your body from sinking.

Not only that but swimming also provides strength training! That’s right, water creates a strong resistance and when you swim, your body is working and building strength.

Swimming is also low impact! Swimming is a great choice of exercise for people who have injuries that prevent them from doing higher impact exercises. Swimming will also not cause as much wear on your body which allows you to exercise more often and at higher intensities than other forms of exercise.

If you’re looking for something to help benefit your lungs, swimming may be the answer! Swimming helps your body to make better use of the oxygen being taken in. Lung and breathing improvement can even lead to lower blood pressure!

One of the best things about swimming is that you are in control! No matter what your fitness level or circumstance, you control your pace and the intensity of your workout. You can also alter or change a workout based on your fitness level.

Swimming can also make you feel less stressed. As you swim, you are able to relax and not be overrun with information and thoughts.

You often work muscles that would go untouched otherwise while you are swimming. Swimming really is a full body workout.

Come give Kansas City swimming a try at The Athletic Club of Overland Park! We offer a variety of aquatics classes as well!
