To promote health, wellness, and camaraderie by presenting participants with physical endeavors designed to challenge their bodies and minds through the spirit of corporate competition.– Kansas City Corporate Challenge Mission Statement
Kansas City Corporate Challenge is a massive event spanning 29 sporting events including running, swimming, tennis, table tennis, racquetball, trap shooting, golf, dodgeball, darts, soccer, basketball, and tug-of-war. The Challenge is also a Charity event for Special Olympics of Kansas City. Over $17,500 was raised in 2013 for this cause.
Participants are all part of Kansas City Metro business professionals. 2014 saw an addition of 22 companies to reach 200 participating businesses. This year’s challenge also had the highest number of registrants to date with nearly 29,000 professionals creating a profile and registering for events.
Company divisions are based on the number of employees. The highest Division is “A”. These companies have 1800+ employees. The ranges continue through Division “H” which has 79 or fewer employees.
The games are played in May and June. The Athletic Club is host to the Kansas City Corporate Challenge Racquetball games on May 17 and 18. The tournament will occupy all 9 courts from 7:00am-8:00pm both days. 114 women and 151 men will be competing. All skill levels will be represented. Known in Johnson County as “The Professionals Club”, many members will be playing on their home court at The Athletic Club.
This two month event is a unique and fun way of networking, firming up business relationships, and developing a community of professionals who can live, work, and play together to make Kansas City a thriving metropolis for not only business but also health and wellness.
The Athletic Club wishes the best of luck to all the participants in the 2014 Kansas City Corporate Challenge. To the racquetball players- See you on the court!
