My name is Laura Forshee and I am a group fitness instructor, currently teaching LaBlast Fitness and Cize Live dance fitness formats. I also hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation /Leisure Studies with an Emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. A little about me: I am married with two children, and we also have two fluffy dogs at home. I absolutely love, love, love to dance! After suffering a back injury at 19 years old, while dancing, undergoing surgery the next year, I felt my dancing and fitness days were over due to extreme pain with any high impact activity. Being young, it was frustrating to not be able to find many low-impact fitness classes geared toward younger participants. Fast forward 15 years later, I unexpectedly found LaBlast Fitness.
In November of 2014 I got an email from Amore Dance telling me Louis Van Amstel, pro dancer from Dancing With The Stars, was coming to Overland Park to do a fitness training. According to this email, LaBlast Fitness would teach true dance skills and was accessible to everyone from the beginner to the experienced dancer. It was advertised that anyone could do this program. I took a leap of faith and put that to the test and signed up for the instructor training. It was true! I could do it!
I fell in love with the program and have been teaching it ever since. I understand injury and physical limitations and I make it my goal to make this class work for people of all abilities and age groups. I am excited to be able to help others learn to dance, or continue their love of dance, and make fitness fun in my LaBlast class!
